What is an alarm system?
An alarm system is first and foremost a visual deterrent: A would-be burglar may think twice about breaking into your home or garage if he sees an alarm box on your wall.
However, there are many professional and opportunist criminals who may decide to break-in. This causes financial loss; emotional upheaval or even in some rare instances, physical harm - not to mention all the time you have to spend dealing with the incident!
Alarm systems detect unauthorized or attempted entry and can alert the police, a keyholder and you automatically.
How does it work?
A standard system can provide an excellent level of security using:
Magnetic Contacts – fitted to doors or windows and activate the system if the circuit is broken.
Passive Infra Red (PIR)– these sense motion and body heat and are normally placed in the top corner of rooms or corridors around the house.
Audible alarm – this will activate if the system detects unauthorized or attempted entry.
Monitoring – signals sent to our monitoring station
Will my cat or dog set it off?
In the survey, we will take account of any pets and ensure the system is configured to avoid your pets setting the alarm
What happens in my phone line is cut or fails?
If you telephone line fails for any reason, the alarm will emit an audible signal alerting you to the fault whilst the system is unset, and switch to a bells only system deterring a burglar.
Will it go off for no reason and annoy my neighbors?
If the alarm is activated for any reason, it will only sound for a short length of time (in compliance with the EN standards). Our engineers take a pride in the installation and commissioning of a system, reducing the chance of a false alarm. In the event of a false operation our technicians will arrange a visit to rectify.
What happens if I’m on holiday?
That’s the point - your home is kept secure! Should the worst happen, and the alarm is activated, we will contact the police and a nominated keyholder. We will always contact you to let you know what’s happening.
